The Tampa Police Department has taken a sixth individual into custody following an assault near the Davis Island Dog Park on February 13, 2025. The incident occurred around 10:42 p.m. during a gathering for a bonfire. Detectives suspect the attack was linked to a prior dispute outside of Tampa.

"This was a brutal and senseless attack that has no place in our community," stated Chief Lee Bercaw. "No matter your age, if you commit a crime in our city, expect to be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Thanks to the swift work and dedication of our officers and detectives, these individuals will now face the consequences of their actions."

The latest suspect apprehended is Jace Villanueva, aged 16, charged with felony battery. The other suspects previously charged include Owen Callahan (17), Jacob Ely (17), Joseph Gesuale (15), Orian Robinson (18), and Grayson Shearer (15). Charges among them range from attempted murder to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Witnesses reported that Jacob Ely threw a rock at the rear window of a Ford pickup truck while two young males were inside. Following this, Ely, Callahan, Robinson, and Shearer entered the vehicle and assaulted its occupants. During the altercation, one passenger lost consciousness after being hit by another rock thrown by Ely. Meanwhile, Gesuale allegedly threatened the driver with a knife.

The injured passenger received treatment at a hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries and has since been discharged. The driver did not report any injuries.

The investigation remains active as authorities are aware of video footage circulating on social media related to the event. They urge anyone with further information or additional videos to come forward.
