On New Year's Eve, a security guard was shot in the 600 block of N. Ashley St., Tampa, while attempting to disperse a large group causing disturbances with electric dirt bike-style bicycles. The injured guard received treatment at a local hospital and has since been released.

Detectives have acquired surveillance footage showing individuals on similar bikes near Gasparilla Plaza before the shooting. Authorities suspect a link between the suspect and those captured in the video. The footage is now public to help identify additional witnesses and gather more information for the investigation.

The Tampa Police Department encourages anyone with information about the incident to contact their non-emergency line at (813) 231-6130 or submit tips anonymously via the Tip411 app available through the TampaPD app. Crimestoppers of Tampa Bay can also be reached at 800.873.TIPS for those wishing to remain anonymous.

Further updates will be shared as they become available.
