Tampa Police have charged Robert Beaty, aged 70, with four felonies after determining that he intentionally crashed into the USAA building on December 3, 2024.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:12 p.m. when police responded to the USAA location at 17200 Commerce Park Blvd. The investigation revealed that Beaty had arrived at the guard gate demanding to speak with a representative from USAA. When guards refused him entry, Beaty donned a helmet and drove recklessly through the parking garage, damaging multiple fences on the property.

A marked security SUV attempted to block Beaty's path, but he reversed his vehicle into it intentionally to create space. Officers found Beaty on the third floor of the parking garage and took him into custody.

No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.

Beaty was transported to Orient Road Jail and faces charges including two felony counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon (vehicle/pickup), one felony count of burglary of an occupied structure, and one felony count of criminal mischief amounting to $1,000 or more.

Authorities have indicated that Beaty is not believed to be a former employee of USAA. Further details will be released as the investigation continues.
