Kathy Castor, the U.S. Representative for Florida’s 14th District, shared a series of tweets expressing her views on various political and social issues. These messages reflect her positions on immigration policy, community engagement, and healthcare.
On March 21, 2025, Castor criticized former President Donald Trump's immigration policies. She described these policies as "costly and cruel" towards immigrants who have entered the country legally to work and reunite with their families. Castor advocated for a more balanced approach by suggesting that "the smart and financially-wise move would be to create a pathway to work and citizenship - one that is tough but fair." "It’s costly and cruel for Trump to expel such hardworking neighbors who immigrated LEGALLY to work and reunite with family."
In another tweet dated March 22, 2025, Castor expressed gratitude towards her constituents for participating in a Town Hall meeting in St. Petersburg. She emphasized the importance of civic engagement and reassured them of her commitment to fighting against what she perceives as unconstitutional actions by Trump. "I want to thank all my neighbors for attending my Town Hall in St. Petersburg last week."
On March 23, 2025, Castor highlighted the benefits provided by the Affordable Care Act (ACA). She pointed out that insurance companies are prohibited from denying coverage due to preexisting conditions such as heart disease or diabetes. Furthermore, she noted that Florida has seen significant enrollment numbers under this program compared to other states. "Thanks to the ACA, insurance companies cannot deny coverage to anyone with heart disease, diabetes or any other preexisting condition."
