Police seek public help after movie theater parking lot shooting

Tampa Police are investigating an incident where a woman discharged a firearm during a disturbance at a movie theater parking lot. The event occurred on November 30, 2024, shortly before 10:00 pm, outside the AMC located at 18002 Highwoods Preserve.

The initial investigation revealed that one shot was fired into the air by a woman wearing a jean jacket, as captured in video footage. Fortunately, no one was hit by the gunfire. However, three individuals sustained minor injuries while fleeing from the scene. Authorities have clarified that this was not an active shooter situation.

Chief Lee Bercaw stated, “This troubling incident serves as a clear reminder that violence is absolutely unacceptable as a means of conflict resolution.” He added, "Our community will not tolerate such behavior, and we will take decisive action. We are conducting a thorough investigation, and we will hold those responsible fully accountable, as we continue to ensure the safety of our residents.”

The police department continues its investigation and will provide updates when available.
