A new garbage collection schedule has been announced for the New Year's holiday by the City of Tampa. The city offices will remain closed on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, in observance of New Year's Day.

For residential customers, there will be no impact on garbage collection services as they do not operate on Wednesdays. Regular service will resume on Thursday, January 2, 2025.

Commercial collection services will experience a one-day delay during the New Year's week. Services originally scheduled for Wednesday, January 1, 2025, will take place on Thursday, January 2. This adjusted schedule will continue through Saturday, January 4. Commercial customers using a 65 or 95-gallon cart should adhere to the residential schedule.

The McKay Bay Transfer Station and Scale House at 114 S. 34th Street will close early at noon on Tuesday, December 31, and remain closed throughout New Year's Day. Normal operations are set to resume on Thursday, January 2.

Additionally, the city’s Department of Solid Waste & Environmental Program Management will start offering curbside Christmas Tree Collection Service at no extra charge beginning Thursday, January 2. Residents must ensure that all decorations and lights are removed from trees before placing them curbside according to their regular yard waste collection day guidelines.

For further information or assistance with the holiday collection schedule or other inquiries, residents can contact the City of Tampa Utilities Call Center at (813) 274-8811 or visit www.tampagov.net/solidwaste.

Residents in New Tampa should reach out to Hillsborough County Solid Waste Management at (813) 272-5680 for details regarding their specific holiday collection schedules.

"Happy Holidays to our valued City residents."
