The City of Tampa has announced the return of "Suds and Solutions," a community initiative aimed at providing free laundry services to local families while connecting them with city resources. The event, initially held on July 10, saw over 277 loads of laundry (2,770 lbs.) washed for free and offered residents information about various city services.
As families prepare for the back-to-school season, which often brings significant financial burdens, "Suds and Solutions" aims to provide immediate relief through free laundry services. The next event is scheduled for August 9, 2024, from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm at Big Wash Laundromat located at 908 East Waters Avenue in Tampa. Families will have access to free washers, dryers, detergent, and other laundry supplies.
During the event, representatives from various city departments including Code Enforcement, Human Rights, Tampa Police Department, Tampa Fire Rescue, and Housing Department will be available to engage with residents and share information about available services.
“Families leave this event with so much more than a basket full of clean clothes. It’s about connecting our Tampa residents with resources that can improve their lives in meaningful ways,” said Mayor Jane Castor. “We were thrilled to see so many people benefit from our first 'Suds and Solutions' event, and we're looking forward to doing it again to help ease the financial burden for families as they prepare for the new school year.”
"Suds and Solutions" is hosted by the City of Tampa Community Engagement & Partnerships team in collaboration with Current Initiatives, a local non-profit organization behind The Laundry Project.
