Creativity and engineering will take center stage when the Red Bull Flugtag event returns to Tampa on November 9, outside the Tampa Convention Center. This marks the third time the event is held in Tampa, following previous occurrences in 2008 and 2011. The event is free and open to the public from noon to 5 PM, but road closures will begin at 8 AM.
An estimated 80,000 spectators are expected to attend as teams attempt to "fly" their homemade aircraft. The large crowd will likely result in increased pedestrian activity around the Riverwalk at the Convention Center, limited parking availability, and traffic congestion. Early arrival is advised for attendees.
Several nearby roads will experience lane closures before, during, and after the event. The West Platt Street Bridge and Harbour Island Bridge will also be closed.
Attendees are encouraged to consider alternative transportation methods such as parking in Ybor City and taking the free TECO Streetcar to Greco Plaza. Other recommended options include HART buses, DASH service, scooters, or ride-sharing services.
Extreme caution is advised due to a high volume of visitors in the area.
The following items are prohibited: firearms or weapons of any kind, drones, framed or large backpacks, alcohol or illegal drugs, glass containers, food, pets, tents. Illegal vending is not allowed.
