The Head of Development and Economic Opportunity in Tampa, Nicole Travis, is set to depart from her position later this year to start her own consulting firm in the city. Mayor Jane Castor expressed her support for Travis' decision, acknowledging her contributions during her tenure.

Travis, who has been leading the city's development efforts since January 2022, played a significant role in various initiatives under Mayor Castor's Transforming Tampa Tomorrow “T3” Initiative. This included adding over $4 billion in development value to the City of Tampa, advocating for $100M in affordable housing, and overseeing projects such as the renovation of the Tampa Convention Center and the acquisition of Memorial Park Cemetery.

In a statement, Travis expressed gratitude for the support she received from the City of Tampa team and her excitement about the new chapter ahead. She mentioned, "As much as I love this role, I am excited about this transition and the flexibility it would afford me with my young family."

Mayor Castor also shared her sentiments about Travis' departure, stating, "I am so sorry to see a tremendous public servant like Nicole leave our City government but wholeheartedly support her decision to shift into consulting after nearly two decades of dedicated public service." Castor expressed confidence in Travis' team to continue the city's progress in her absence.

Travis's last day as a city employee is set for July 1. Mayor Castor wished her the best in her future endeavors, highlighting Travis's entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to community service in her new capacity.
