Tampa Fire Rescue issued the following announcement on Feb. 21.
Becoming one of #TampasBravest was an easy decision for Firefighter Lauren Glanton. She had someone to look up to in the family, her father, Paramedic Larry Glanton Sr. Lauren has been a firefighter with Tampa Fire Rescue for just under a year.
Firefighter Glanton says that the best part of the job is firefighter is connecting with the community. Glanton says, “I enjoy being able to comfort the citizens of Tampa Bay during their time of need.”
Who does she look up to in the department? It’s not just her dad… “I actually have two role models within this department, both my father, PM Larry Glanton Sr. and Fire Chief Barbara Tripp. Both have taken time to pour words of wisdom and encouragement into me and I hope to inspire future generations just as they have inspired me.”
While she’s only been with Tampa Fire for a short time, a challenge that has presented itself during her rookie year is not becoming overwhelmed with all there is to learn within this career. “There are a lot of moving parts at all times, but I've had to remind myself to take each shift as it comes and challenge myself to do each task better than the last.”
