The City of Tampa will host the 2025 Miss Asia Pacific Scholarship Pageant and Asia Pacific Singing Idol Contest on Saturday, May 3, at the Barksdale Senior Center, located at 1801 N. Lincoln Ave., Tampa. The event is organized by the Tampa Mayor’s Asian American Pacific Islander Advisory Council. Doors will open at noon for lunch, and the program will start at 2:00 p.m. Advance registration is required for tickets.

May, being Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, is a month dedicated to celebrating cultural traditions, recognizing local talent, and supporting academic pursuits in Tampa’s AAPI community. The event will include vocal performances as part of the Asia Pacific Singing Idol Contest, followed by the Miss Asia Pacific Scholarship Pageant. Participants in the pageant will showcase national costumes and partake in a question-and-answer session. Judging will be conducted by representatives from Hillsborough County Public Schools, the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners, and the Tampa City Council.

Mayor Jane Castor expressed her support for the event, stating, “We’re proud to support events like this that showcase our talented residents and open doors for future leaders in Tampa’s AAPI community. It's always exciting to celebrate culture while helping these young people take the next step in their education.”

The Mayor’s AAPI Advisory Council, with backing from the City of Tampa, has successfully organized the annual Tampa AAPI Festival, attracting thousands each year to Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, making it the city’s biggest celebration of Asian American Pacific Islander cultures. The AAPI Advisory Council remains committed to fostering civic engagement and cultural understanding through the upcoming scholarship pageant and singing contest.
