Tampa police reserve officer fired after child abuse charge

The Tampa Police Department has terminated a volunteer Reserve Officer following her arrest related to an off-duty incident. The termination took place on March 23, 2025.

According to reports, the incident occurred on March 22, 2025, when a juvenile victim, accompanied by an adult, reported an altercation involving Ada Terman Paulino. The victim stated that three days prior, Terman Paulino struck her in the face multiple times and choked her as she struggled to breathe. The minor sustained physical injuries that were still visible at the time of reporting. It was noted that the victim and Terman Paulino are acquainted.

This incident did not occur while Terman Paulino was performing official duties for the police department. Following this report, she was arrested by Tampa Police and charged with child abuse.

Terman Paulino had been serving as a Reserve Officer since 2022 before being relieved of duty and subsequently terminated from her position.

Reserve Officers in Tampa are volunteers trained to assist with emergencies and special events, which allows full-time patrol officers to focus on their regular patrol responsibilities.
