U.S. Representative Kathy Castor, who has been serving Florida's 14th district since 2007, recently shared her thoughts on social media regarding local celebrations and national political issues. Castor, born in Miami and currently residing in Tampa, took to Twitter to highlight significant events and express her stance on legislative matters.
On March 10, 2025, Rep. Castor emphasized the continuous celebration of Black History in St. Petersburg beyond the designated month of February. She expressed her honor in presenting Congressional Records to notable community figures for their impactful contributions: "The celebration of Black History in St. Petersburg happens every day, not just in February. I was honored to present Congressional Records to Imam Askia Aquil, Carla Bristol, Bob Devin Jones, and Dr. Hildegarde Shirley for their selfless work and grassroots greatness."
Later that day, she criticized a funding bill proposed by House Republicans. According to Castor's tweet at 18:53 UTC on March 10, the bill does not adequately support American families: "Here are the facts: The House Republican's 99 page partisan funding bill does nothing to help American families. Instead, they are refusing to negotiate in a bipartisan manner and instead bending the knee to Trump and Elon Musk by slashing funding for veteran care, food…"
In a subsequent tweet posted at 18:53 UTC on March 10, Rep. Castor pointed out an omission in addressing everyday economic concerns within the same funding bill: "OH! And not a single thing to address the cost of eggs"
