The annual Gasparilla Pirate Invasion is set to return to the Tampa Convention Center, promising a series of events and activities for attendees. The event includes the popular Gasparilla Invasion Brunch, which has sold out in advance. Hosted by EventFest, the brunch offers a prime view of the pirate invasion.
Attendees are reminded that coolers and outside alcohol are prohibited on convention center property. All guests will undergo bag checks upon entry. Those with brunch tickets should enter via the Tampa Convention Center Front Drive off Franklin Street.
The schedule for Gasparilla begins with brunch from 10 am to 1 pm at the convention center. The pirate invasion takes place between 11:30 am and 1 pm as hundreds of boats sail toward the center. At 1 pm, the Jose Gasparilla pirate ship will dock at the convention center, where pirates will demand the city key from Mayor Jane Castor. Festivities continue with a Parade of Pirates along Bayshore Boulevard from 2 pm to 5:30 pm.
Viewing areas for the invasion include The Sail Plaza bar on Tampa Riverwalk, which opens early at 9 am and features food from Big Ray’s Fish Camp along with live music performances throughout the day. Tables are available on a first-come-first-served basis.
Due to expected heavy traffic in downtown Tampa during Gasparilla Pirate Fest, visitors are advised to allow extra time for travel and parking. Nearby parking garages include Pam Iorio Parking Garage, Tampa Convention Center Garage, and Fort Brooke Garage, each charging $30 for day-long parking.
Rideshare services like Uber or Lyft are recommended for those planning to drink at Gasparilla. Designated pickup spots are located outside the Tampa Convention Center Front Drive and Harpoon Harry’s Crab House.
For refreshments, The Sail Plaza waterfront bar will serve cocktails starting at 9 am alongside several pop-up bars outside the convention center. Big Ray’s Fish Camp offers local dishes such as Cuban Sandwiches beginning at 9 am, while various food trucks provide additional dining options.
