U.S. Representative Kathy Castor, who has been serving Florida's 14th district since 2007, recently shared several updates via social media concerning initiatives and developments affecting Floridians. Born in Miami and currently residing in Tampa, Castor has a long-standing career in public service, having also served in the Florida House of Representatives.

On December 2, 2024, Rep. Castor announced "Great news for Floridians!" urging residents of Pinellas or Hillsborough County to act promptly to receive assistance. The post emphasized immediate action for those eligible.

The following day, December 3, she highlighted "Great news for Florida kids and families!", reporting that President Biden had approved a waiver to expand CHIP eligibility in Florida. Castor called on Governor Ron DeSantis to accept the waiver quickly to ensure more children gain access to necessary health care.

Later on the same day, Rep. Castor made an appeal "Calling all Hurricane Heroes!" She invited nominations for her Hurricane Hero award aimed at recognizing individuals who have demonstrated exceptional service within their communities following Hurricanes Debby, Helene, and Milton.
