Tampa has once again achieved a perfect score for its inclusivity and protection of the LGBTQ+ community. This recognition comes from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's annual Municipal Equality Index, which evaluates how inclusive municipal laws, policies, and services are for LGBTQ+ individuals residing and working in more than 500 cities.
The City of Tampa earned a score of 100, reflecting high ratings across all five categories. These categories include non-discrimination laws, efforts to support LGBTQ+ employees, public safety, and fair enforcement of the law.
"Tampa prides itself on its diversity and the differences that create a vibrant and unique society," stated Mayor Jane Castor. "For this reason, we must do everything we can to ensure all individuals, particularly historically-marginalized groups that have suffered greatly from discrimination and hostility, like the LGBTQ+ community, feel safe, welcome, and valued in our thriving city."
