FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell is in Tampa to meet with Mayor Jane Castor as the city braces for Hurricane Milton. The hurricane is anticipated to impact the Tampa Bay area as a major storm.

Mayor Castor has declared a State of Emergency for the City of Tampa, and efforts are underway to secure facilities, protect critical infrastructure, activate emergency shelters, and clear debris. Residents are advised to secure their properties and complete their preparations. Mandatory evacuations have been issued for Evacuation Zones A and B.

Two sandbag distribution locations are available for residents and businesses at Al Barnes Park on N 32nd Street and Himes Avenue Complex on S Himes Avenue. Due to high demand, there may be delays at these sites.

Residents can stay informed about storm updates by signing up for the City of Tampa’s emergency alert system via text message.
