Tampa prepares stormwater system ahead of Hurricane Helene

In advance of what is expected to become Hurricane Helene, preparations are underway in the City of Tampa to ensure its services and infrastructure are ready for the severe weather and its impacts.

Stormwater crews are working to ensure the drainage systems are clear of debris and functioning at their maximum capacity. This work is done year-round and becomes even more critical ahead of known weather events.

Prior to Tropical Storm Debby, the teams removed more than 84 tons of debris from drainage ditches and street sweeping operations. A similar, all-hands-on-deck approach is underway now and will continue ahead of this week's weather event.
