The Department of Solid Waste in Tampa has announced a revised collection schedule in preparation for Tropical Storm Helene.
For residential collection, garbage, recycling, and yard waste services will be suspended on Thursday, September 26, 2024. Residents are advised to secure their carts, containers, and yard waste and wait until after the storm to place yard waste curbside.
Commercial collection services will continue through Wednesday, September 25, 2024 but will be suspended on Thursday, September 26. Downtown Tampa commercial collection (C2S) will follow the same schedule. The SWEEP and Special Pickup services will also be affected; residents should secure any items awaiting collection as SWEEP is canceled for Thursday with make-up dates to be announced later. Special services are similarly suspended on that day.
The McKay Bay Transfer Station and Scale House at 114 S. 34th St. will close on Thursday but remain open for residents with solid waste accounts until Wednesday from 7 am to 3:30 pm without additional charges.
Litter Skimmer water clean-up and collection is also canceled for Thursday.
