On August 24, 2024, at approximately 12:00 p.m., officers responded to the 1900 block of Meadowbrook Ave in reference to an aggravated assault that occurred between two adult women.

Based on the preliminary investigation, an attempted dog adoption escalated when an altercation ensued between both parties. During the altercation, one of the involved parties produced a firearm.

As standard in all investigations, officers took reports from those involved, including witnesses.

At the time of the report, both parties provided conflicting statements about the events that led to the incident.

While on scene, the firearm used in the incident was seized as evidence.

The Tampa Police Department and State Attorney’s Office are both conducting investigations into the incident to determine the most appropriate charges.

As with all cases, "the Tampa Police Department is committed to holding suspects accountable and bringing justice to victims."

Additional updates, including charges, will be made available pending the ongoing investigation.
