The historic 7th Avenue bricking project in Ybor City begins today, Monday, July 29, 2024. The initiative aims to calm traffic on a road that experiences significant pedestrian activity throughout the year.

Funded by the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), the project will be executed in phases. The first phase, spanning from North 15th to 17th Streets, is anticipated to take two weeks and will proceed one block at a time. Upon completion, the project will cover fourteen blocks along 7th Avenue, extending from Nick Nuccio Parkway to 26th Street.

While sidewalks on both sides of the street will remain accessible during construction, street parking along this segment of 7th Avenue will be unavailable. Business signage will be posted at each corner to assist patrons in locating businesses during this period.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to use the TECO Line Streetcar as a car-free alternative for traveling to and from Ybor City during construction.

The project is expected to promote alternative transportation modes and connectivity while boosting local businesses and contributing to Ybor City's economic growth. By using authentic historic bricks, it aims to enhance the authenticity of the National Historic Landmark District and allow residents and visitors to connect more deeply with the city's past.
