Congresswoman Laurel Lee (R-FL) has announced Cailee Cuffle from Steinbrenner High School as the winner of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition for Florida’s 15th District. Cuffle's painting, titled "Through the Glass," will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. for a year, joining artwork from other winners across congressional districts nationwide.
"I am excited to announce Cailee Cuffle from Steinbrenner High School as this year’s Congressional Art Competition winner for Florida’s 15th District," said Rep. Laurel Lee. "Cailee demonstrated her artistic talent beautifully in her artwork, 'Through the Glass.' I would also like to congratulate all the incredibly talented students of Florida’s 15th District who submitted artwork to this year’s Congressional Art Competition."
The remaining finalists' artwork will be exhibited at Congresswoman Lee's district office.
Every spring, the House of Representatives and the Congressional Institute sponsor a national art competition to showcase high school artists' talents from across the country. The winning artwork from each district is displayed in the Capitol for one year. This competition was first initiated in 1982 and has seen participation from over 650,000 high school students.
The first place was secured by Cailee Cuffle with "Through the Glass" from Steinbrenner High School. The second place went to Camila Castro with "Remembrance" from Wiregrass Ranch High School, and Ayona Bagui with "The Daydreamer" from Strawberry Crest High School bagged third place.
