Tampa Police officers swiftly apprehended two teenagers following a shooting incident in the parking garage of Westshore Plaza on March 27, 2024. The suspects, identified as 16-year-old Tarivus Clemons and 16-year-old Armontae Wilson, were arrested after attempting to rob a victim during a narcotic transaction in the mall's parking garage.
According to Chief Lee Bercaw, "Juveniles who use a gun and commit a crime will face adult consequences and are mistaken if they believe they will not be held accountable." He expressed gratitude for the quick actions of the officers that led to the arrests and the recovery of the firearms involved, preventing further harm to the community.
The victim, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries after being shot twice, was located by officers at a nearby residence after fleeing the scene and calling 911. The driver of the vehicle was unharmed in the incident.
Tarivus Clemons was charged with multiple offenses including Armed Robbery, Aggravated Battery, Carrying Concealed Firearm, and Minor in Possession of a Firearm. Armontae Wilson faced charges of Armed Robbery, Aggravated Battery, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and other related offenses.
The investigation is ongoing as detectives work to determine how the teenagers obtained the firearms used in the incident.
