Tampa Police officers have made an arrest in connection with a Sunday night roadway altercation that involved gunfire. The incident took place on February 25, 2024, at the intersection of S Morgan St and Channelside Dr at approximately 6:28 p.m.

According to reports, the altercation began as a result of a two-vehicle crash, leading to a physical dispute between the parties involved. The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Shyquan Lee Galon, allegedly fired multiple shots at the victim's occupied vehicle before fleeing the scene. Fortunately, no one in the vehicle was injured by the gunfire, although one individual did sustain minor non-life-threatening injuries from the physical altercation and self-transported to a local hospital.

Following an investigation, officers located and arrested Galon at his residence. He has been charged with One Misdemeanor Count of Battery, One Misdemeanor Count of Criminal Mischief, and Two Felony Counts of Shooting At Within Or Into A Vehicle. Galon was then transported to Orient Road Jail for processing.

In light of this incident, the Tampa Police Department issued a reminder to drivers to practice safe driving habits and avoid aggressive behavior on the road. They advise drivers to avoid engaging with enraged drivers, drive calmly, and refrain from escalating any conflicts while on the road.

The department also emphasized the importance of reporting dangerous situations, stating, "if you believe that you are in danger or that another driver is attempting to start an altercation, do not follow the vehicle and call our non-emergency number at 813-231-6130 or dial 9-1-1."

The Tampa Police Department can be reached at 306 East Jackson Street, Tampa, Florida 33602, or by phone at (813) 274-8211 for general inquiries.
