In observance of New Year's Day, the City of Tampa offices will be closed on Monday, January 1, 2024. This closure will affect both residential and commercial customers in terms of garbage collection schedules.
For residential customers, there will be no collection on Monday, January 1, 2024. However, normal collection schedules will resume on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
Commercial customers will also experience changes in their collection service. On New Year's Week, commercial services will run one day late through Saturday, January 6, 2024. This means that customers who usually receive service on Monday, January 1, 2024, will instead receive service on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. Commercial customers with a 65 or 95-gallon cart should follow the residential schedule.
In addition to the changes in garbage collection schedules, the McKay Bay Transfer Station and Scale House, located at 114 S. 34th Street, will be closed on January 1, 2024, in observance of New Year's Day. Normal operating hours will resume on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
Furthermore, the City of Tampa will be offering curbside Christmas Tree Collection Service starting on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. This service comes at no additional charge to residents. To take advantage of this service, residents must ensure that all decorations and lights are removed from the Christmas trees. Additionally, tree limbs should be cut to four (4) feet lengths, bundled, and placed curbside on the regularly scheduled yard waste collection day. It is important to note that all discarded lights and decorations are not recyclable and must be placed in the garbage cart.
Residents with any questions or concerns regarding the revised garbage collection schedule or the Christmas Tree Collection Service can contact the City of Tampa Utilities Call Center at (813) 274-8811 or visit the website at www.tampagov.net/solidwaste.
It is worth mentioning that New Tampa residents are advised to contact Hillsborough County Solid Waste Management at (813) 272-5680 for their holiday collection schedule.
As the City of Tampa adjusts its garbage collection schedule for the Christmas and New Year holidays, it wishes its valued residents a Happy Holidays.
