Tampa, FLA. - A woman has been arrested in Tampa on charges of animal cruelty after three newborn puppies were found barely alive in a garbage dumpster. The incident occurred on November 24, 2023, when a witness discovered the puppies in plastic Ziploc bags and immediately took them to the local Humane Society for emergency care. Despite their efforts, the puppies tragically passed away.

Upon receiving the report, the Tampa Police Department launched an investigation into the aggravated animal cruelty case. Chief Lee Bercaw expressed deep concern over the incident, stating, "It's disturbing to see a case of animal abuse in our community. We will not tolerate this kind of behavior and will hold those accountable for their actions."

Thanks to video surveillance footage from the city of Tampa, detectives were able to identify a suspect vehicle. This led them to Angela Giudice-Burris, born on February 3, 1979, who was subsequently arrested and charged with Aggravated Cruelty to Animals.

In addition to the arrest, Hillsborough County Animal Control also responded to the suspect's residence and removed two adult dogs from the property.

Animal cruelty is a serious offense and one that is taken very seriously by law enforcement and the community as a whole. The Tampa Police Department is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all animals within the city. Chief Lee Bercaw emphasized this, stating, "We will not tolerate any form of animal abuse and will work diligently to bring justice to those responsible."

The Tampa Police Department encourages anyone with information related to this case or any other instances of animal cruelty to come forward and provide assistance. Together, the community can help put an end to such heinous acts and protect innocent animals from harm.

For any information or inquiries, please contact the Tampa Police Department at 306 East Jackson Street, Tampa, Florida 33602, or call (813) 274-8211.

Let us stand together as a community and put an end to animal cruelty. #TampaProud
