Tampa Police are currently investigating a fatal hit and run incident that occurred on N. River Cove Street. The incident involved a United States Postal Services vehicle and resulted in the death of the postal carrier, a white male in his late 60's. The driver of the suspect vehicle fled the scene after colliding with the USPS truck.
According to preliminary investigation, a dark colored Mercedes sedan was identified as the suspect vehicle. Tampa Police located the car approximately ½ mile away from the scene with damage consistent with the crash. Detectives are now focused on identifying and apprehending the suspect driver.
