On Wednesday, December 13, 2023, members of the Tampa Police Department will be transforming into Santa’s elves to bring some holiday cheer to over 50 children from the Tampa community.

“Every child deserves to enjoy a happy holiday season, with this event also providing another opportunity for us to build relationships with our youth and give back to our community,” said Chief Lee Bercaw. “I hope these children can enjoy this holiday season knowing that the Tampa Police Department will always be here to look out for them and their families."

The shopping spree will begin Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. at the Target located at 1544 N. Dale Mabry Highway. Each child, ranging in age from six to 17, was personally selected by a Tampa Police officer or employee who identified their need for assistance in the community. Every child will receive a pre-loaded gift card (each approximately $200) to spend however they choose. Continuing a Tampa Police tradition, the only requirement will be that one purchase made by each child must be for someone important in their lives.

Target employees will provide gift-wrap to officers, who will then help the kids wrap the gifts they purchased before they head home.

This community outreach initiative was made possible by community and corporate partnership donations made to Rise Tampa, Our Police Foundation.
