The City of Tampa has released a revised garbage collection schedule for the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays. The city offices will be closed on December 22nd and 25th for Christmas, as well as on January 1st for New Year's Day. The revised schedule will affect both residential and commercial customers.

For residential customers, the collection schedule for the week of December 18th will be adjusted. Thursday collection will take place one day early on Wednesday, December 20th, and Friday collection will also be one day early on Thursday, December 21st. The following week, due to Christmas Day, Monday collection will be delayed and take place on Tuesday, December 26th, while Tuesday collection will be delayed and take place on Wednesday, December 27th. Normal collection schedules will resume on Tuesday, January 2nd.

Commercial customers will also experience changes to their collection schedule. For the week of December 18th, commercial customers will have normal service. However, those who usually receive service on Monday, December 25th, will receive it on Tuesday, December 26th instead. During the Christmas week, commercial services will run one day late until Saturday, December 30th. Similarly, for the New Year's holiday, customers who usually receive service on Monday, January 1st, will receive it on Tuesday, January 2nd. Commercial services will be one day late until Saturday, January 6th.

It is important to note that commercial customers with a 65 or 95-gallon cart should follow the residential schedule.

In addition to the collection schedule changes, the McKay Bay Transfer Station and Scale House, located at 114 S. 34th Street, will also have adjusted operating hours. The facility will be closed from December 22nd to December 25th. Normal operating hours will resume from Tuesday, December 26th to Saturday, December 30th. For New Year's Day, the facility will be closed on January 1st, and normal operating hours will resume on Tuesday, January 2nd.

The Department will be offering a special curbside Christmas Tree Collection Service starting on Tuesday, January 3rd. This service will be provided at no additional charge to residents. To take advantage of this service, residents must ensure that all decorations and lights are removed from the trees. Tree limbs should be cut to four feet lengths, bundled, and placed curbside on their regularly scheduled yard waste collection day. It is important to note that all discarded lights and decorations are not recyclable and must be placed in the garbage cart.

If residents have any questions or concerns regarding the trash collection schedule or other related issues, they can contact the City of Tampa Utilities Call Center at (813) 274-8811 or visit the website at www.tampagov.net/solidwaste.

It is worth mentioning that New Tampa residents are advised to contact Hillsborough County Solid Waste Management at (813) 272-5680 for their holiday collection schedule.

The City of Tampa wishes all its valued residents a happy holiday season.
