Tampa Police arrested 30-year-old Antelo Shavonne Simpson and charged him with first-degree murder in connection to the homicide that occurred on October 25, 2023, in the 300 block of E. Wellington Court.

On October 25, 2023, at approximately 9:48 a.m., officers responded to the 300 block of E. Wellington Court in reference to a deceased female in her early 70’s. Upon the arrival of officers and Tampa Fire Rescue, the victim was found to have suffered from multiple sharp force injuries.

During the investigation, detectives were able to determine that the victim made contact with several shared associates, including Simpson, on October 23, 2023, following her being locked out of her residence.

On scene, detectives were able to gather several pieces of evidence that linked Simpson to the residence and confirmed that he was the last person to have seen the victim alive.

On October 25, 2023, at approximately 11:20 p.m., Simpson was taken into custody and charged with One Count of Felony First Degree Murder.

Simpson was transported to Orient Road Jail.

“It is heartbreaking to know that a family lost a loved one so tragically,” said Chief Lee Bercaw. “Although it cannot replace their loved one, I hope there is a small amount of comfort that the family is able to find in knowing that detectives were able to find closure in less than 24 hours. It is in cases like this one, that show how dedicated our detectives and department are to find justice for the victim and their loved ones as well.”
