Tampa Police have apprehended a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting that took place on December 5, 2024, on E. Sitka St. The arrest was made on December 24, 2024, when authorities detained Michael Horace-Fleming, aged 24.
The incident unfolded just after 9:30 pm when officers responded to reports of gunfire at a residence located in the 1700 block of E. Sitka St. Upon arrival, they found three adult male victims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. All victims were transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Tragically, one victim, a 28-year-old man, succumbed to his injuries days later, leading investigators to classify the case as a homicide. The other two victims, aged 27 and 21, have since been discharged from the hospital and are recovering.
Through detailed investigative work, detectives identified Michael Horace-Fleming as the primary suspect in the case. Authorities do not believe the shooting was a random act of violence.
On December 24th, Horace-Fleming was arrested without incident at his residence in Temple Terrace by the Tampa Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit in collaboration with the US Marshals Task Force. A Glock 23 firearm believed to be used in the shooting was found in Horace-Fleming's vehicle and seized as evidence.
Horace-Fleming faces charges including First Degree Murder, two counts of Aggravated Battery with Great Bodily Harm, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Shooting At/Into/Within a Building. He is currently held at Orient Road Jail.
"This arrest brings a measure of justice to the victims of this senseless act of violence," stated Chief Lee Bercaw. "Our city is safer with this dangerous suspect off the streets. I commend the dedication and tireless work of our detectives, the US Marshals Task Force, and all involved in this investigation and apprehension."
The investigation is ongoing as detectives continue to examine circumstances surrounding the shooting. They are also working to identify and speak with another person reportedly present during the incident to ascertain any information they may have.
