The Tampa Convention Center has been awarded the LEED Silver certification for Building Operations and Maintenance (O+M). This recognition is part of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), which is widely regarded as a leading green building rating system globally.
David Ingram, Executive Director of the Tampa Convention Center, expressed his satisfaction with this achievement. "This is an impressive accomplishment, especially for a building that’s almost 35 years old," he said. "It demonstrates our commitment to sustainability and the great job our operations team does keeping us running."
The LEED O+M certification signifies that buildings are operating at high sustainability standards. The Tampa Convention Center earned this certification by implementing effective strategies in areas such as sustainability operations practices, water savings, energy efficiency, and indoor environmental quality.
Recent upgrades were made to reduce energy consumption as part of its Capital Improvements Project. These improvements included updating the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system and replacing older lighting technology with LED lighting.
Located in Downtown Tampa, Florida, the convention center offers extensive event spaces and amenities. It has received multiple awards for its facilities, including being named Best Convention Center in the Southeast U.S. by The Stella Awards in 2023 and 2024.
The center collaborates with various companies to provide event services such as food and beverage through Aramark; utilities via Edlen; audiovisual services from Encore; security by Sentry Event Services; internet and telecommunications from Smart City; shipping through FedEx; and digital signage via Xpodigital.
