Congresswoman Laurel Lee has announced the opening of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition for high school students residing in Florida's 15th District. This annual event, sponsored by the Congressional Institute, aims to showcase and promote artistic talent among high school students nationwide.

Since its inception in 1982, the Artistic Discovery competition has seen participation from over 650,000 students. Participants submit their artwork to their local representative's office, where a panel of district artists selects the winning pieces. The winners receive recognition both locally and at an awards ceremony held annually in Washington, D.C., with their artworks displayed at the U.S. Capitol for one year.

“I am thrilled to announce this year’s Congressional Art Competition, which is a wonderful opportunity for talented young artists to express themselves and uncover their creativity,” said Rep. Laurel Lee. “I encourage all high school students to put their ingenuity to the test and submit their original artwork. I look forward to seeing all the talent our students have for this year’s competition!”

The deadline for submissions is April 4, 2025. The winner will be awarded Congressional Recognition and have their artwork featured on the Congressional Art Competition website for one year. Additionally, winning students will be invited to an awards ceremony on Capitol Hill.

Further details regarding submission criteria and deadlines can be found on Congresswoman Laurel Lee’s website or by contacting Sarah Centonze via email at sarah.centonze@mail.house.gov or phone at (813) 393-5077.
