The City of Tampa has appointed Jeffrey McKittrick as the new Director of Housing and Community Development. McKittrick previously held the position of Assistant Director in Pasco County, where he was instrumental in restarting the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee and managing a budget that included $20 million in state and federal funding. His past roles include overseeing redevelopment for the Kingsport, Tennessee Housing and Redevelopment Authority.

Mayor Jane Castor expressed confidence in McKittrick's ability to address Tampa's housing challenges. "Jeff McKittrick is a recognized leader who understands our housing and affordability crisis," said Mayor Castor. "With nearly three decades of experience in local government, I am confident he will deliver on the fundamental vision we have to help our struggling residents secure a safe place to live."

In his new role, McKittrick will lead initiatives begun by Mayor Castor's administration, working with various community groups to create affordable housing units and maintain stable living conditions for residents. He remarked on his appointment, stating, "It's been remarkable to witness the transformative impact the Mayor's housing initiatives have had on Tampa as she has worked tirelessly to combat our housing crisis. I am honored to have this opportunity, and look forward to working with our housing team on our shared priorities."

McKittrick's career also includes significant achievements during his time in Kingsport, where he expedited housing applications for homeless individuals and led relocation efforts for public housing residents. His background extends beyond housing; he has served as a deputy sheriff in Manatee County, Florida.

Abbye Feeley, Development and Economic Opportunity Administrator, highlighted the importance of experienced leadership for Tampa’s growth: "To deliver on Tampa's ambitious housing goals and keep up with immense growth our city has witnessed, having experienced leadership is crucial, and that is what Jeff brings to the table," she stated.

A native Floridian, McKittrick graduated from King University in Bristol, Tennessee, and holds a Certified Public Manager designation from Florida State University.
