The Tampa Police Department is conducting an investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred early Tuesday morning at a residence on the 1700 block of W. St. Joseph St. Authorities have indicated that they do not believe this incident was random.
Police responded to reports of gunshots at approximately 5:45 am and found an adult white female in her mid-30s with a gunshot wound. Officers provided immediate life-saving measures, but the suspect had already left the scene.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. Initial evidence suggests that the victim and suspect were acquainted, though detectives are still working to determine the circumstances leading up to the shooting and identify those involved.
