On December 11, 2024, shortly after 11:00 p.m., officers were called to the Crosstown Expressway near W Gandy Blvd and Bridge St. They found an adult male in the middle of the road who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation determined that at least two vehicles exiting the expressway struck the pedestrian. A witness reported seeing the man crawling on the road moments before being hit. The pedestrian was not wearing reflective gear or clothing and was dressed entirely in black.
Evidence supported the witness's statement as neither vehicle involved showed damage to their front bumpers, hoods, or windshields. The drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
Investigators suspect a third vehicle, a white four-door sedan, may have also been involved. They are seeking to speak with this driver. Anyone with information is urged to call 813-231-6130.
