In response to the challenges faced by residents following Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton, the City of Tampa will host a virtual townhall to address recovery and rebuilding concerns. The event is scheduled for Friday, November 1 at 11 a.m. It will last one hour and feature a panel ready to answer questions from the community.
The panel includes Hillsborough County Property Appraiser Bob Henriquez, City of Tampa Chief Building Official JC Hudgison, and Whit Remer, the City's Sustainability and Resilience Officer. Whit Remer emphasized the city's commitment to supporting residents during this period: "We recognize many people in Tampa are burdened with significant rebuilding decisions right now," he said. "We are committed to providing information and options to guide residents through this difficult time."
Residents interested in participating can register for the Virtual Townhall at tampa.gov/register, where they can also submit questions in advance. The townhall will be broadcast live on CTTV, available on Channel 15 via Frontier Communications and Channel 640 on Charter Spectrum.
The panel aims to address various queries such as considerations for ongoing home renovations affected by the storms under the 50% rule, maintaining tax rates after rebuilding, and available grant programs for homeowners.
