Tampa, FL. (October 28, 2024) - Tampa Police are investigating a fatal accident involving a pedestrian that occurred early Monday morning at the intersection of W. Hillsborough Ave. and N. Lois Ave.

Officers responded to the scene at 6:57 am, finding a Hispanic male in his mid-50s with critical injuries. He was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Authorities are in the process of notifying his next of kin.

The initial investigation suggests that the pedestrian was crossing southbound outside of a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a white Ford F350 turning eastbound onto Hillsborough Ave. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with police.

Eastbound lanes on W. Hillsborough Ave. were closed temporarily for the investigation but have since reopened.

Police have stated that speed does not appear to be a factor in this incident, and no criminal charges are expected at this time. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
