The City of Tampa Solid Waste Department is actively working to provide storm debris pick-up services for areas heavily impacted by Hurricane Helene. Today, regular residential trash and recycling services are ongoing, and residents are advised to secure their blue trash and green recycling carts or any other outdoor containers once the service is completed.
Storm debris collection will be paused on Wednesday, October 9 at 3:00 PM. It is noted that not all neighborhoods may receive service before the storm arrives. Residents are encouraged to move and secure any storm debris for increased safety during the storm.
Residents and businesses can utilize the McKay Bay Transfer Station for disposing of hurricane-related debris. Residential Solid Waste account holders living within Tampa city limits can dispose of selected accepted items without additional charges. Identification verifying residency in Tampa is required, but utility bills are not necessary.
The McKay Bay Transfer Station will close today, Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 5:00 PM.
For a list of accepted items and disposal requirements, residents can visit tampa.gov/solid-waste.
Customers are also encouraged to download the Tampa Trash and Recycling app from Apple or Google Play Stores for real-time updates on service schedules.
