Those looking to make a positive environmental impact in Tampa are encouraged to join the first city-sponsored environmental stewardship program in Florida, known as the Green Team.

Since its formation in 2023, in partnership with Volunteer Florida and AmeriCorps, the Green Team has planted more than 1,200 trees and over 8,000 plants across city parks while simultaneously removing more than 5,600 pounds of invasive plant species. Additionally, the team has collected approximately 34,000 pounds of litter.

In an effort to continue helping Tampa address its sustainability and resiliency goals, the third cohort of the program is accepting new applications. The deadline to submit is Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 5:00 P.M. Accepted members will serve in full-time roles from August 19, 2024 to July 31, 2025. Members are required to serve a minimum of 1,700 hours. In return for their service, members receive a monthly living stipend of $2,125 over the 52-week period; a $6,850 educational award upon successful completion of the service year; Federal Student Loan Forbearance; health care coverage; professional development; and exercise opportunities.
