Roots & Shoots, Moms Clean Air Force - Florida, The Green Team, and Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful are partnering for a tree planting event at Takomah Trail Park in Tampa on Thursday, July 18, from 8-10 a.m.
Representatives from the organizations and registered guests will plant 10 trees in an area of Tampa affected by air pollution and extreme heat. The organizations will also provide information and activities to educate children and their families on the importance of clean air.
“This hands-on event is perfect for kids of all ages who want to learn about nature and make a positive impact on the environment,” said Emily Pickett, Florida Organizer for Moms Clean Air Force. “We hope to spread awareness about air pollution while giving parents and children alike opportunities to make an impact in cleaning up our air.”
Attendees must register on EventBrite to participate. Parents need to register tickets for both themselves and their children.
“Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots is thrilled to partner with Moms Clean Air Force for this event,” said Bonnie Eaton, Tampa Bay Basecamp Coordinator. “As Dr. Goodall would say, ‘Every individual has a role to play. Every individual makes a difference.’ This event demonstrates how the youngest members of our community can have a positive impact on air quality.”
Moms Clean Air Force aims to protect children from air pollution and climate change. The organization envisions a future where all children breathe clean air and fights for equitable solutions in addressing these issues.
Roots & Shoots empowers youth to create a better world through service projects that promote environmental stewardship.
Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful focuses on promoting environmental stewardship and community engagement through education, volunteerism, and partnerships.
The City of Tampa Green Team addresses sustainability goals through activities such as litter removal, tree planting, establishing community gardens, invasive species removal, park beautification, community education, youth engagement, among others.
