On July 13, 2024, at approximately 2:59 p.m., Tampa Police responded to the 8700 block of N Packwood Ave regarding an aggravated battery. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, an adult male, with upper body trauma. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

During the investigation, Tampa Police detectives were informed that the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) was working on a separate homicide that occurred before the Packwood incident and was related. In HCSO’s investigation, the decedent was a female victim.

The suspect, 35-year-old Silvio Franco Peralta (W/M, 01/11/1989), told Tampa Police detectives that he went to the residence on N Packwood Ave and confessed to the male victim about what happened to the female victim. He sought assistance from him to dispose of the weapon used and other property. During the male victim’s attempt to return inside the residence, Peralta stabbed him.

Peralta claimed that the male victim pulled out a firearm; however, on-scene evidence did not support his claim. After the incident on N Packwood Ave, Peralta fled on foot and was later arrested by Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputies.

Peralta was transported to Orient Road Jail and charged with one felony count of murder in the first degree with a weapon, one felony count of tampering with physical evidence relating to a capital felony, one felony count of armed burglary of a dwelling, and one felony count of armed burglary of a structure.

For additional information on the prior incident please contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
