On June 13, 2024, at approximately 9:28 a.m., Tampa Police responded to a residence located on the 1000 block of E 26th Ave following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male with upper body trauma. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Detectives identified the suspect as Patricia Whitehead, aged 71. According to their investigation, Whitehead and the victim shared a residential space. Tensions arose when Whitehead became angry with the victim for not cleaning up after himself.

On the day of the incident, as the victim was leaving the residence, Whitehead heard him slam the door. She retrieved her firearm from her bedroom, exited the residence, and shot the victim multiple times.

Whitehead was taken into custody and transported to Orient Road Jail. She has been charged with one felony count of Murder in the First Degree.
