On May 13, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m., the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) issued an Amber Alert for 9-year-old Briana Pagan. Authorities believed that Briana Pagan might have been accompanied by Sylvia Pagan, aged 34, and Jovanni Caceres Steffani, a person of interest who was 38 years old.

Before 2:00 a.m. on the same day, Steffani was found deceased in Suwannee County due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Briana Pagan was also located safely in the same county, leading to the lifting of the Amber Alert. However, Sylvia Pagan was not found with either Briana Pagan or Steffani.

Detectives are currently working diligently to locate Sylvia Pagan as concerns grow for her overall well-being. She was last seen at around 10:00 a.m. on May 12, 2024, in the vicinity of the 10400 block of Altman Street.

The Tampa Police Department has urged anyone with additional information that could assist in locating Sylvia Pagan to contact them at 813-231-6130. They extended their gratitude to FDLE and the Suwannee County Sheriff's Office for their assistance in locating Briana Pagan and ensuring her safety.

Additional information will be provided as it becomes available during this ongoing investigation.

Previously, Tampa Police had issued a Missing & Endangered Alert for Sylvia Pagan who is described as being approximately 5ft 3in tall and weighing around 155 pounds. She was last seen wearing an unknown color dress on May 12, at approximately the same location where she was last seen before her disappearance.
