Tampa Police Make Arrest In Sunday Night Roadway Altercation

Tampa Police have made an arrest in connection with a Sunday night roadway altercation that involved shots being fired following a two-vehicle crash. The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Shyquan Lee Galon, has been taken into custody and charged with various offenses.

According to the Tampa Police Department, the incident occurred on February 25, 2024, at the intersection of S Morgan St and Channelside Dr at around 6:28 p.m. Multiple reports of shots fired led officers to the scene, where it was determined that a physical dispute between the parties escalated into gunfire. Fortunately, no one in the vehicle was injured by the shots, but one individual did sustain minor non-life threatening injuries from the altercation.

Following an investigation and leads, officers located Galon at his residence and placed him under arrest. He has been charged with One Misdemeanor Count of Battery, One Misdemeanor Count of Criminal Mischief, and Two Felony Counts of Shooting At Within Or Into A Vehicle.

The Tampa Police Department has emphasized the importance of safe driving practices to prevent incidents of road rage. They advise drivers to avoid aggressive behaviors such as tailgating, speeding, and engaging with enraged drivers. Additionally, drivers are urged to maintain a calm demeanor and refrain from driving under distress.

In case of encountering a potentially dangerous situation on the road, individuals are advised not to engage with the aggressive driver and to report the incident to the authorities promptly.
