The City of Tampa celebrated the grand opening of the new dog park at Henry and Ola Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. This 10,600-square-foot dog park marks the 17th in the City, providing a dedicated space for pets and their owners to enjoy.

Construction on the project, which cost $150,000, began late last year. The park features fencing, irrigation, and a turf entry area. Additionally, amenities such as benches, a picnic table, an ADA-accessible dog fountain, a dog waste station, and a trash can have been provided for the convenience of park visitors.

"We are delighted that this wonderful project has been completed," expressed Ted Fowler, the Parks and Recreation Manager. He added, "The Parks and Recreation Department is proud that this fantastic dog park will provide a place for pets and their humans to have fun and socialize."

The Planning, Design, and Natural Resources division in Parks and Recreation, along with the Green Team, have also contributed to the park's aesthetics by planting three red maple trees and 42 pink muhly grass. As these trees mature, they are expected to reach a height of up to 60 feet, adding beauty and shade to the park.

The City of Tampa acquired the property that now houses Henry and Ola Park back in 1992. The decision to create a dog park was based on public demand, as Parks & Recreation conducted a survey in 2022 to gauge interest.

With the opening of the Henry and Ola Dog Park, Tampa residents and their furry companions now have another great option for outdoor recreation. The City continues to prioritize the well-being and enjoyment of its residents, both human and canine alike.
