Community members should keep the following in mind if they plan on using the disposal boxes or stopping by one of the participating locations :

•    Accepted items: tablets, capsules, and patches

•    Unaccepted items: needles, syringes, lancets, or liquids

•    Pills should be removed from any container with personal health information

•    Pills should be placed in a clear, plastic, sealable bag

“The Tampa Police Department is committed to educating our community on the dangers of misusing prescription drugs and the importance of proper disposal of medications,” said Chief Lee Bercaw. “It is our hope that by providing our community a safe method of disposal, it will help us make Tampa safer, together by further preventing drug overdoses and deaths in our area.”
