HOW IT HAPPENED
1st QUARTER
The game started with two made free throws from Sydney Kin. From there, both teams exchanged threes as each team looked to take the lead. A three from Clayton State tied the game at 21. Before the quarter ended Clayton State shot another three which that put them up by one. Score: 24-23 (Clayton State)
2nd QUARTER
The second quarter started with a one made free throw from Eleanore Marciszewski. Marciszewski wasn't done though, completing an and-one to put Tampa up 28-24. Tampa's offense continued to push through pounding the ball through the paint and getting to the free throw line. Mya Giusto continued her assist train as she had a clean pass to Sarah Jones in transition. Tampa's defense was also in line as they held Clayton State to no field goals for almost four minutes helping them take the lead at halftime. Score: 42-35 (Tampa)
3rd QUARTER
The third quarter started with Clayton State starting the scoring with two made layups. Jones put Tampa's first points on the board with a mid range jumper. This quarter was intense as Clayton State came out with energy looking to take the lead once again. Jones was the lead scorer in the beginning with seven points. A layup from Clayton State puts them up 50-49 over Tampa. From here, Audrey Ramsey shoots a three which sparks some energy into Tampa's offense. Giusto shoots a difficult off the glass layup then a block by Alani Gallagher closes out the third quarter with Tampa on top. Score: 61-53 (Tampa)
4th QUARTER
The fourth quarter started with two made free throws made by Kin. A back door pass from Ramsey to Melijah Sullivan puts some energy into the crowd as Tampa looks to close out the fourth quarter. Clayton State cuts Tampa's lead down little by little with every mistake Tampa committed. One made free throw from Giusto puts Tampa back up by 10, but Clayton State manages to cut the lead again to five with 32.3 seconds left. Even with this, Tampa still maintains their lead and comes out with the win. Score: 78-69 (Tampa)
