Congresswoman Laurel Lee of Florida recently organized a ceremony in Plant City to honor local firefighters. The event recognized Firefighter Battalion Chief James Wingo and Captain Jason Mesa, who was named Firefighter of the Year. Newly sworn-in firefighters Cameron Hall, John Furlow, and Christian Torres were also celebrated during the event.
Congresswoman Lee awarded each honoree a Congressional Certificate as a mark of their exemplary character and service. She emphasized the crucial role that firefighters and first responders play in maintaining community safety.
"Our local firefighters and first responders risk their lives in the face of danger to keep us safe when our community is in need. It was my honor to recognize and celebrate a few of our local heroes by presenting them with Congressional Certificates," said Congresswoman Laurel Lee. "Keeping Floridians safe is one of my top priorities in Congress, and I'm excited to continue working alongside these men and women in continued partnership to foster a safe community for all."
The ceremony underscored Congresswoman Lee's commitment to public safety and her appreciation for those who serve on the front lines.
