Congresswoman Laurel Lee has announced Eeshan Sakamuri as the winner of the 2024 Congressional App Challenge for Florida’s 15th District. Sakamuri, a student at Middleton High School, developed an app named VeteranCare. The app aims to serve as a centralized hub for veterans seeking information on benefits, resources, and community support.
"Congratulations to Eeshan Sakamuri for winning this year’s Congressional App Challenge for Florida’s 15th District," stated Congresswoman Laurel Lee. "VeteranCare stands to be a tremendous resource for our nation’s heroes all over the country. I was quite impressed by the talent, knowledge, and creativity of each of the students who submitted their apps. This competition is a wonderful way for students to get involved and to inspire the next generation of trailblazers in the STEM, coding, and computer science fields."
Advik Aditya from Middleton High School received second place with HurricaneHub. This app is designed to provide communities with resources to stay informed and prepared during hurricanes.
Ryan Sumiantoro and Alyssa Hayman from Steinbrenner High School earned third place with SkyBoard. Their app focuses on providing college readiness insights and personal development tools.
The Congressional App Challenge was established in 2015 by Congress to promote STEM education and encourage students in coding and computer science skills. The nationwide competition invites students to develop applications for mobile or computer devices.
